Equality and Diversity- What you need to know

Aims: To enable organisation to understand what and why they need to use these regulations in the workplace. It is an excellent opportunity for you as an organisation to set certain procedure to ensure equality throughout the organisations.

Outcomes/Goals

At the end of the course each participant should be able to:

  • Identify what the impact is if the legislations is not enforced in the organisation.
  • Summarise areas of the legislation in protecting employees against discrimination on the grounds of:
  • Sex (gender),
  • Race,
  • Disability,
  • Gender re-assignment,
  • Religion or belief (since December 2003),
  • Sexual orientation (since December 2003).

Religious diversity in the work place

Aims: To break down misconceptions of religion and encourage participants to understand the difference between religion and culture.
To clarify the legal requirements for Religion and belief in the work place.

Outcomes/Goals

At the end of the course each participant should be able to:

  • Recognise the difference between religion and culture.
  • Recognise the different religious groups.
  • Have confidence in setting guidelines in their organisation for religious orientation.
  • Recognise the requirement for individual needs e.g. dress, food, festival etc.
  • Understand the regulations on ‘Religion and Belief in the work place’ and apply these regulations in the organisation.
  • Improve on communication and focus on building positive relationships with people from different religions.
